Success in catching uninsured drivers is improving as a result of  smart Automatic Number PlateRecognition (ANPR) technology used by the police, combined with information from the Motor Insurance Database (MID), the only central record of all insured vehicles in the UK. If your vehicle isn’t on the MID, the police will stop you and this map identifies the top 20 police regions where uninsured drivers are most likely to be found.
